Dancing Into a New Chapter

Kingyinli Ltd is reimagining what it means to learn social dance after 45. We're here to make bachata, salsa, and the joy of movement accessible to everyone — especially those discovering dance for the first time.

Why We Started This

We realized something important: most dance schools in Portugal overlooked a huge group. People over 45 wanted to learn, to move, to be part of a community. But they couldn't find beginner-friendly programs designed for them.

Kingyinli Ltd started because we believed that shouldn't be the case. Dancing isn't just about steps — it's about confidence, connection, and feeling alive. We've trained hundreds of dancers in Coimbra and Braga since we began, and every single person proved that age is irrelevant when the teaching is right.

We don't rush people. We don't use jargon. We show you exactly what bachata fundamentals look like, break down salsa into manageable pieces, and create an environment where you're never the oldest or newest person struggling alone.

What Drives Our Teaching

We've built our approach around four core ideas that shape everything we do.

Age-Appropriate Design

Classes are built specifically for dancers 45 and older. Music, pace, music selection, and movement progressions all respect where your body is right now — not where a 25-year-old's body is.

Clear Fundamentals First

Before we teach combinations, we teach principles. You'll understand weight transfer, frame, and rhythm — the actual building blocks — so you can improvise confidently instead of memorizing choreography.

Community, Not Competition

We're not training professional dancers (though some people get really good). We're building a space where people genuinely enjoy showing up, where friendship happens naturally, and where nobody feels left behind.

Your Learning Journey

We've mapped out a clear path so you know exactly what to expect and how you'll progress.

1

First Steps in Bachata

You'll learn the basic rhythm pattern, how to hold your partner (or dance solo if that's your preference), and why the connection matters more than perfect feet. Most people feel comfortable by week two or three.

2

Salsa Fundamentals Over 45

Salsa has a different rhythm, and it's faster. We break it down piece by piece — weight changes, Cuban motion, traveling steps — and you'll build them up gradually. It's not as complicated as it looks.

3

Social Dancing Confidence

Once you've got the basics, you'll start dancing in social settings. We prepare you for that moment. You'll know how to ask someone to dance, how to adapt to different partners, and how to enjoy yourself without overthinking.

4

Continuous Growth

Dancing doesn't stop at "basic." You'll discover new techniques, musicality, styling, and improvisation. The learning keeps going as long as you want it to — but the pressure to advance disappears.

"I was nervous the first class. But the instructor made it clear nobody was judging anybody. After a month I was actually looking forward to Tuesday nights. Now I've made friends I never expected to meet."

— Teresa, 58, Braga

More Than Just Dance Classes

When you join kingyinli Ltd, you're not just signing up for instruction. You're entering a community of people who get what it feels like to start something new at this stage of life.

We've seen friendships develop that go beyond the studio. People go out together after class. They encourage each other when someone's frustrated. They celebrate when someone finally lands that spin they've been practicing.

That social connection? It's actually one of the biggest benefits of dancing after 45. Movement keeps your body flexible and strong. Rhythm work sharpens your coordination and balance. But the genuine human connection — that might be the most important part. We're intentional about building that.

Dancing also gives you something to look forward to, a reason to get out of the house, and proof that you can still learn complex new skills. Those things matter more than they might seem.

Where to Find Us

We run beginner-focused programs in two key locations across Portugal, each with experienced instructors who specialize in teaching adults new to dance.

Coimbra Studio

Our Coimbra location serves the central region and has been our home base since the beginning. Classes run Tuesday through Thursday evenings, with weekend sessions available. The studio is specifically set up for beginner dancers — bright, welcoming, and pressure-free.

Braga Center

We expanded to Braga to serve the north. Same teaching philosophy, same supportive community, slightly different schedule. Whether you're in Braga or nearby areas, you'll find the same quality instruction and inclusive environment here.

Both locations welcome complete beginners. We recommend visiting before you commit — come observe a class, meet the instructors, and feel the energy. No pressure, no sales pitch. Just an invitation to see if this is for you.
